We too have seen problems with emoticons between versions.

Typically the problem shows up for someone using the 8.0.2 integrated client, chatting with someone using 7.5.1 Sametime Connect. The server is 7.5.1 CF1. The emoticon appears as either a red X or the text describing the emoticon.

Does anyone have specific information about whether or not the problem occurs between different client versions on a Sametime 8 server? Is there an upgrade path or specific actions that will eliminate the problem?
